The average slaughterhouse kills over 9,000 rabbits each day. These rabbits are bred SPECIFICALLY for their fur. Rabbits bred for their meat are usually killed around the age of 10-12 weeks when their flesh is a paler color which is more popular with consumers. By contrast, ‘fur’ rabbits are killed at several months old by which time they have developed a thicker skin and coat.
These rabbits are held in crates piled high in view of those being slaughtered. Faeces and urine trickle down from rabbits in crates above them.
Rabbits can scream. It’s a heart wrenching sound only heard when a rabbit is in extreme pain or stress. It is a sound heard all too often in these slaughterhouses. One by one, these rabbits have their throats slit. Many rabbits are not killed instantly. Still alive, with their feet shackled in the assembly line of death—they must wait to bled to death. Their meat is then discarded and their pelts collected to be made into a coat, a pair of earmuffs, or even a keychain.
Compassion is the fashion. Go fur free! #furfreela
Congrats Sports Illustrated! You’ve managed to objectify both women and animals in one photo! Question, isn’t the SI swimsuit issue supposed to be a magazine full of supermodels wearing itty bitty bikinis? Why on earth would SI feature real fur on the cover of their skimpy bathing suit issue? 👎
What a baneful choice in featuring such a morally inferior company like Canada Goose. Their abominable display of animal cruelty is no secret. Canada Goose Inc. is known worldwide for their cruel, unnecessary, and abundant display of animal cruelty. 💔
Each year in Canada, over 100,000 coyotes are trapped and killed in cruel leg-hold, Conibear and snare traps. In agony and confusion, animals often break teeth and bones trying to escape. Canada Goose chooses to trap and kill coyotes, but thousands upon thousands of non-target animals (yes, even companion animals) are victims of these heinous traps.
The animals have three options:
1) Try to chew off their trapped body part.
2) Bleed, freeze, or starve to death
3) Or wait in agony to be “dispatched” by the trapper.
Again, this is all for a piece of decorative fur trim for an overpriced coat.
Please do not buy this issue and do not support Canada Goose. If you must “ooh and ahh” over supermodel bodies, choose a different publication. The Internet is full of FREE bathroom material, don’t buy this rubbish.
By the way SI, you can count on a strongly worded letter to the editor from yours truly…
We’re protesting INTERMIX today for their sale of fur. Much of INTERMIX’s fur comes from China. A country with virtually no animal protection laws, and some of the most deplorable conditions we’ve ever seen.
If you’d like to join us today, RSVP HERE: http://on.fb.me/ZLdnUs
We’d greatly appreciate it if everyone who is unable to attend please sign and share our Intermix: Please Stop Selling Fur petition: www.change.org/intermix
On behalf of bunnies everywhere, we thank you!
The International Fur Trade Federation claims that “welfare is at the heart of everything the fur trade does." Interesting how anyone remotely interested in animal welfare can justify fur trapping…
Trapped animals often twist or chew off their own limbs to escape. Traps are not selective, and ANY animal can get caught.
The animals pictured were all victims of fur trapping. Remarkably, the two cats survived, but they were lucky. Valiant nearly lost his left foot. The fact that JJ survived is a miracle. She was caught in a body crushing Conibear trap.
Born Free USA covered their veterinary bills out of their Trapping Victims Fund. Unfortunately, this happens all to often, and most do not survive. This unnecessary suffering will continue as long as the fur trade thrives.
Say NO to fur!
Most of KITSON's fur is from a brand called “Dolce Cabo.” These coats and vests are labeled as “Rabbit / Raccoon Fur” and they’re all Made In China.
Now I’d like to point out that raccoons themselves are not native to Asian countries, however raccoon dogs are. Any “raccoon fur” that’s made in China, is actually Raccoon Dog (also known as Tanuki.) They are a part of the canine family.
Regardless of what species, animals raised and slaughtered on Chinese fur farms suffer tremendously. Their entire lives are spent behind the bars of their tiny cages, only to be taken out to be beaten and killed.
China has virtually no animal protection laws, so our best way to fight this barbaric industry is with our dollars. Without demand, there will be no supply of animal abuse.
I urge you NOT to shop at stores like KITSON and INTERMIX as long as they sell real fur. They keep the fur trade, one of the most vapid and cruel industries, alive and kicking. Shop with compassion. Shop fur free!

I took a trip to INTERMIX in Malibu and guess what I found? A two for one special of animal abuse! Oh INTERMIX, how you disappoint me!
You had Helmut Lang make an exclusive rabbit fur jacket for INTERMIX? Oh, and it’s “Made in China?” How very ethically sourced of you! Tell me, how many bunnies do you think had to be killed for that coat? I’m going to guess around 30. It usually takes 30-40 rabbits, but seeing as the rest of this Flux fur jacket is made from the slaughtered flesh of lambs, it’s probably a little less.
INTERMIX had the opportunity last season to stop selling fur and put compassion in fashion. Instead, they chose to ignore our pleas of compassion. Their buyers decided to slap us in the face with a replenished stock of animal skins and a fur exclusive to their store.
Tell me INTERMIX, do you enjoy making money off of animals that have been anally or vaginally electrocuted ⚡before they’ve had their throats slit? I guess so. Why else would you continue to sell such abhorrent animal cruelty?
This campaign will have it’s one year anniversary in October. Playing the ignorance card is no longer an option. We’ve informed you, and you’ve ignored us and continued to sell animal flesh. Thanks to your continued grotesque displays of fashion, we will continue protest for the animals.
INTERMIX, I implore you, STOP SELLING FUR.

I busted Kitson for selling real fur back in January. I reported my findings to the Humane Society because I discovered that Kitson was selling several items mislabeled as “faux fur” when they were actually made of real fur. Guess what? Kitson is selling the SAME Street Level purse they were busted for selling as faux.
I checked the tag in the bag. The tag has no mention that this bag is indeed real fur. Canine fur to be exact… This is unacceptable.
It makes me sick to my stomach that INTERMIX would call this Yves Salomon Raccoon vest “versatile and chic.” I’d say “grotesque and vile” is more like it.
Trappers prefer to drown and beat wild raccoons to death as this method does not hurt the pelt.
According to INTERMIX’s website, the vest was made in France. As they say in French, “c’est vraiment des conneries.” (This is REALLY bullshit). However, if the fur’s origin is from China, and was just labeled “Made in France” (which happens quite often) the fur would actually be from Raccoon Dogs, as Raccoons are not native to Asian countries.
Whatever species of animal suffered and died for this wretched coat, I am truly sorry that humans are so vapid and cruel. RIP

FUR IS BACK AT INTERMIX: Rabbit, fox, and raccoon fur. Pardon my French, but big f*cking mistake. Oh, it’s on like donkey kong now.
There will be a protest announced shortly. Please do not shop at INTERMIX and ask all of your friends to do the same.
Fur is generally not sold during the spring and summer seasons. INTERMIX is currently selling resort wear and other summer time looks. Make no mistake, if we do not keep pressuring them, they will bring fur back into stores this fall.
I’ve recently learned that INTERMIX has their own fur buyer. She will select pieces like Adrienne Landau's rabbit fur coats and Theory's fox fur vests for next season as long as their is a demand for them. Clearly, compassion is not an issue, we have to hit them were it hurts: sales.
Tell everyone you know NOT to shop at INTERMIX as long as they support the fur trade.
It would help us massively if you’d sign & share the petition: change.org/intermix.
Spread the word! For more on our campaign please visit furfreela.com/intermix
Our INTERMIX fur free campaign has been going on since last October. We have never stopped fighting, nor do we intend to.
Why do we fight? Rabbits killed for their fur are kept in a tiny crate. They’re hung up on an assembly line hook by their feet, and have their throats slit. Rabbits scream in horror as they’re killed.
When the public speaks, the industry listens. Tell INTERMIX, enough is enough!
INTERMIX is transitioning into their spring season. This is good news considering what a bloodbath their fall line was.
However, they have continued to ignore us, which leads us to believe they will continue to sell fur next season.
We won’t let that happen. We won’t stop fighting for these poor animals lives.

It’s a damn shame there are people out there who still wear fur.
A beautiful living creature had to be slaughtered for that coat or piece of trim.
Help us abolish the fur trade!
